About Dr Cheng Shin Chuen

Dr Cheng is a fellowship-trained vascular and endovascular surgeon who has been in clinical practice for over 20 years with more than 15 years as a specialist vascular and endovascular surgeon. His clinical interests are in all aspects of minimally invasive vascular and endovascular surgery in aortic, peripheral arterial and venous diseases. This includes aortic aneurysm repair, lower extremity revascularization (angioplasty and stenting) and varicose veins treatment. 

Dr Cheng completed his medical degree in 1998 at the University of New South Wales, Australia. In 2006, Dr Cheng completed his basic and advanced specialty training in General Surgery in Singapore. In 2007, Dr Cheng was a Senior Clinical Fellow in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery in Prince of Wales Hospital, Sydney Australia. Prior to joining private practice, Dr Cheng was the head of Vascular surgery department in Tan Tock Seng Hospital; consultant surgeon with Alexandra Hospital; visiting consultant of Vascular Surgery with Changi General Hospital; and an Adjunct Assistant Professor with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. Being amongst the few surgeons in Singapore who are trained in performing vascular ultrasonography, Dr Cheng is able to provide a one-stop service for his patients by doing an ultrasound during time of consult. This rare expertise allows accurate diagnosis to be made in a timely manner. Treatment plan can be discussed and tailored based on individual’s unique anatomy and conditions.

Dr Cheng also provides services such as diagnosing and treatment of deep vein thrombosis, arteriovenous fistula creation and maintenance, renal nerve denervation, diabetic foot amputation prevention, laparoscopic gallbladder surgery, general surgery (such as lumps and bumps) as well as gastroscopy and colonoscopy. Along with his existing clinical practice, Dr Cheng has authored a number of articles and abstracts in numerous peer-reviewed journals and other publications. He has also lectured and presented at many international symposiums in Taiwan, Seoul and Tokyo, on his specialization and is also invited overseas to supervise or proctor complicated vascular surgeries.
